Killer Images®: Creating Digital Faces for Law Enforcement—The Basics
Killer Images®: Creating Digital Faces for Law Enforcement—The Basics is a comprehensive foundation course exploring the art, science, and investigative value of forensic facial imaging.
Developed and taught by award-winning forensic artist and retired police sergeant Michael W. Streed—The SketchCop®—the course draws upon more than four decades of real-world law enforcement, forensic art, investigative, and teaching experience.
Students will explore the history and evolution of forensic art, the role and responsibilities of the forensic artist, facial anatomy and proportion, light and shadow, observation, eyewitness memory, interviewing principles, and the step-by-step development of hand-drawn and computer-generated facial composites.
Real cases, original composite images, practical exercises, downloadable training materials, and knowledge checks connect each lesson to the realities of criminal investigation. Students will learn not only how composite images are created, but when they should be used, how eyewitness conditions affect the final image, and why ethical, witness-led procedures are essential.
A new module will be released each week, allowing students time to study the material, complete the exercises, and build their knowledge progressively.
This course is designed for:
Law enforcement officers and investigators
Current and aspiring forensic artists
Criminal justice and forensic science students
